SO: Actually if the confusion can be that temporal then it will not be a problem. I think it may take X more amount of time if the content on both addresses happen to be exact replica. It seem we so much over estimate capabilities of a typical internet user who largely focus on the content (especially users in regions where Internet is still a luxury).


As I tried to convey in my earlier post, it all depends on what is actually happening at NG.COM, and at COM.NG. If NG stands for “Nantucket Geyser” and NG.COM is registered by a legitimate organization named Nantucket Geyser then Nigeria the country or the registrant of COM.NG has absolutely no business pre-empting that domain or even complaining about it. No attempt to confuse or exploit or defraud = no problem. If anyone goes to the wrong place they will simply learn their error (although I note that there actually is no “ng.com” registered domain) and adjust accordingly.

is no more a valid reason than arguing that President's Choice food products (in Canada) need a name change because someone might think that they are recommended by Donald Trump. I might add that Opium perfume and Canoe cologne contain neither opium nor canoes, but the names are allowed to stand. Words, and even two letter sequences, only have meaning in context, and there is no legitimate context for ownership claims here.

SO: Now that is funny :(


To cite a Turkish cityTLD domain name, we should not suffer bullshit.ist<https://bullshit.ist/> arguments for arbitrary capture of two letter second level domain names.

There is no need for a committee here. ..... full stop.

SO:  That fine, for me it's not about ownership persee (govt can argue that for all they care) it's about whether we can get some structuring and order for once in this pot of soup called tld, but I guess that ship already sailed and all we can do is make increased effort to educate typical users on the mess we continue to create.
