Rafik –

I agree we should open the process as soon as possible.  The US Thanksgiving holiday is Thursday 27 November, and many (including my employer) also grant Friday 28 November as an additional holiday day.  If we’re able to get a call arranged before Thursday I’ll do everything I can to make it.  I agree with your recommendation for a common message email.

Hi Philippe,

I only quoted verbatim the rec #3 which leave to the search committee to self-organize and decide on appointing such facilitator.

For timeline, we can ask the search committee to accelerate the process and start call for candidates asap (something we will support too)

For a call next week, I assume it is challenging due to Thanksgiving ?

Happy to be on a call with the selection committee to talk about the timeline and the expectations. Not sure about needing a “non voting chair” since that committee will not vote, my initial thinking was that they could sort it out by themselves and appoint a rapporteur (call that a chair person if you will). FWIW re timeline (not the selection committee), here’s what I had as notes when we reviewed this in team 14, Andrea should be able to correct this, but indeed seems that we’re already late.

Day zero is spelt out in Section 7.8 (d) and 11.3 (f) of the Bylaws.

AGM begins on October 17th , the deadline for the GNSO representative to the EC is 6 months (the bylaws say “at least”) before that, ie April 17th. The prerequisite for this is that the name goes through the GNSO Council, which we can’t assume will hold a dedicated meeting for this, so 1 month prior is a conservative estimate, as a result : day zero as deadline for the House to agree on a name for a motion to the GNSO Council is middle of March.

As a result, as per the Team 14 procedures (and if my maths are correct):
15 September 2025 Six months before - the search committee begins its work.
15 October 2025 Five months before - the recruitment phase begins with a call for candidates.
15 December 2025 Three months before - interviewing complete.
15 January 2026 Two months before - applicant pool narrowed down (vetting).
15 February  2026 One month before - tentative selection is made and vetting begins.
15 March 2026 Day zero - decision made.
16 April 2026 (or 11 March 2026) Council’s vote under consent agenda, and then announcement to the EC

thanks for this. It is helpful as we already discussed in Dublin. We are already a little bit late with regard to the search committee but it is set up now and can start.
What is the exact date for day 0?22nd April?

Their first action would be selecting a non-voting facilitator and we let them organize following the scope of rec #3.
