[NCSG-EC] IMPORTANT: list moved to new server

Dear Robin, others,

My apologies for failing to keep you up to date.

Moving the lists as part of consolidating NCSG web resources has been
discussed a number of times since we decided to get NCSG its own VPS
as part of the member database move, and doing it at the start of the
year when FC and EC compositions have changed seemed a good time.

But I definitely should have alerted you about the move in advance.
My bad.

For administration, I will give Maryam admin password and let her
handle routine administration tasks while remaining myself as backup.
I would be happy to have someone else from the EC as additional backup
admin if desired (although, as you may recall I asked you about
sharing the admin password to the lists some time back and you didn't
see any need).

One key purpose on consolidating NCSG lists and web resources to
NCSG's own server is indeed archival and removing key person
dependency problems. With NCSG's own server it is easy to hand it over
when people change, make backups &c. (I remember well the trouble I had
collecting various incarnations of ncuc-discuss and their archives
in 2012 when I was in NCUC EC.)

As for the Intersessional, Avri is going there, even though it came
about in a bit roundabout (but planned) way. It was pretty evident
from the start that there'd be at least one last-minute cancellation
(as there has been now, Amr isn't going; I'm hoping there won't be
more), and besides her other good qualifications Avri is rare in that
she was able to be "hot standby" so to speak, ready to go at short
notice if needed, whereas more or less everybody else needed long time
to plan and prepare. So it was a calculated risk: chance of missing
Avri vs. being unable to use a travel slot at all. (Yes, I did discuss
it with her in advance.)

But, I take your chastisement to heart and try to keep the EC
better informed in the future.

Sincerely,

Tapani

I don’t think our only function is to review membership applications but also provide oversight to the Chair in his execution of duties. It is very difficult to provide oversight of decisions if we aren’t informed of the matter until after decisions are taken and then implemented.

But another person who wasn’t discussed by this committee was chosen by you to send as the replacement instead and we were simply told after the fact.
