Dear all,

My call for volunteers to substitute for Marilia in Hyderabad got
several replies. Omitting those that didn't ask for travel support
(there were got a few who will be in Hyderabad anyway), we have seven
people to choose from, in alphabetical order:

Sarah Clayton
Wisdom Donkor
James Njoroge Gitau (aka Kaswesha)
Yashar Hajiyev
Raoul Plommer
Juan Manuel Rojas
Cintra Sooknanan

Below are their applications (I've cut signatures and quoted parts
of my original messages for readability).

Note: time is very short. Indeed Constituency Travel thinks its
already too late to get the visa, but I it should still be possible
if we act fast - worth trying in any case. (We don't have anyone
available who would not need a visa.) But we really should decide
this today.

So, please indicate your preferences ASAP.

Key criteria would be ability to work effectively in the council,
and major indicator for that would be recent activity in relevant
GNSO working groups.

Thank you in advance for quick responses,

Tapani

Dear Tapani,

I would like to respectfully ask for consideration for both the travel slot
and the Council alternate. This would be a wonderful opportunity for me to
become more integrated in the NCSG, to become more aware of the people and
processes involved in the Review of all Rights Protection Mechanisms (RPMs)
in all gTLDs PDP Working Group (in which I have been quite active), and to
learn much more about the GNSO during the day-long working session. I?m
familiar with many of the topics so believe I could be a good
representative from the start.

I first became involved with the NCSG back in 2013. The initial design of
the NCUC web page now in use was mine, although it changed considerably
after I had to leave the NCUC and NCSG to accept employment with two sister
companies (Com Laude and Valideus) that were represented in another SG. I
missed the NCSG and one of the first things I did when leaving employment
and returning to university was to re-join. I am now in my second year as a
doctoral student at the Annenberg School of Communications at the
University of Southern California.

I met many of you at the Los Angeles intercessional meeting where I
presented my work on the DIDP to the NCSG contingent. It was a great
pleasure to meet so many of you there and I?m happy to see that multiple
NCSG members have introduced my work to so many in the CCWG. Transparency
is one of the areas I hope to help out with should you select me to go to
Hyderabad.

My real focus in Hyderabad would be RPMs. I am active in the main group and
the subgroup considering the TMCH. Last week, I actually found myself alone
for a while as the only NCSG member on a subgroup call. I held the fort
alone until Kathy arrived to help!

It is hard to be good at this work if you have never met the people you are
working with. While I met many of you in Los Angeles, I have never met
Kathy in person and don?t know most other RPM members. I believe actually
attending an ICANN meeting would make me better at representing our views
on the RPM Working Group and I do believe I have sufficient general
knowledge (I have a Masters in Cyberlaw from the University of Leeds where
I focused on A2K) to enable me to work with our other Councillors should
you want me to serve as an alternate. I think it would be great, regardless
of who you choose, if the person selected was a fresh face!

I should note that I have never received funding of any type from ICANN,
the NCSG, or the NCUC.

I?ve received permission from USC to leave for the time period required to
go to Hyderabad and the visa will not be a problem for me.

Thank you for considering me.

Sarah Clayton

Dear Tapani,

My name is WISDOM DONKOR, and i work as e-government, open data and
internet governance specialist with the National Information Technology
Agency Ghana.
I am currently an IGF MAG Member and also Internet Governance Caucus
Representative on the Civil Society Community Group (CSCG). I will be very
happy to attend the ICANN 57 Meeting in Hyderabad to bring to discussions
some of the topics of concern from within IGF MAG, the community from
within my country Ghana and Region Africa.

I believe my presence at the meeting will enable me to bring to discussion
and share experience from IGF MAG, Ghana and Africa.

I can't say I am an expert in working in ICANN but some how have an
experience in some of the working groups. I am currently a member of
the CCWG, The GNSO new gtld working Group and GNSO rpm working group.
I have also followed several mailing discussion s as an observer. And

I am open to learn more as I lead most of the ICANN discussions in Ghana
among the youth.

Dear Tapani,

If my status in NCSG allows me to be eligible
for that extra travel slot, I might try my luck with visa. .

I would like to be considered for the Hyderabad travel slot, for I would be
working much better live with other member of ICANN. I have only been to
Marrakech and Helsinki conferences so far, but I've acquainted with many
people there, especially in the civil society and I am also heading to the
IGF in December.

I work for the Electronic Frontier Finland and the Open Knowledge Finland
(part of the international Open Knowledge netwrok) and I feel that I could
represent the members of those organisations well in Hyderabad. I am
participating in three groups of the WS2, HR, Transparency as well as the
Ombudsman group and in fact I am the liaison between HR and Ombudsman
groups. If I made it there physically, I could increase my participation
significantly.

Hi Tapani

I hope this email meets you well. I would like to express interest in
acting as an alternative council member, I am in the process of applying
for the Indian Visa at the moment.

As you know I have previously held executive positions in LACRALO and NPOC.
After some time away from the ICANN space, I am ready to get back into the
work of NCSG and NPOC particularly as ICANN is in a critical time of
transition. I am hoping that the Hyderabad meeting will be able to serve
that reentry.

My skills as an attorney and mediator with ICT development background, will
be able to add value. Further, I also serve to add representation of
Caribbean and Latin American members.

Thanks for your and the executive's kind consideration.

Regards
Cintra Sooknanan
