Thank you Farzy for sharing this! I left a few comments in the draft, but have copied below for ease of reference:
On the recommendations:
* On these recommendations themselves: the three selected are all very specific to mitigation action to be taken by registries/registrars and how to address a specific type of abuse. While important, I would recommend having one recommendation that’s more directly aimed at supporting/addressing the concerns of registrants.
* Personally, I’m very interested in ensuring there is a standard recourse mechanisms for registrants (row 25 of the gaps abuse doc<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18PdZnH3OQ65NT9g0lGE6Y2toFaCrtxyf/edit?gid=1836517289#gid=1836517289>), which also links to the "25% unactionable abuse complaints". Transparent procedures for recourse combined w/ capacity-building for registrants to understand how to report abuses in a way that’s actually useful for registries/registrars and that are within their purview to address could be one way to support efforts by registries/registrars to mitigate DNS abuse (though that may be too much).
* A suggestion to actionalize: replace the recommendation on "unrestricted API access" with something along the lines of what I suggested above that's focused on registrants and their needs. As the issue of unrestricted API is very specific and doesn’t seem to have as much of a direction to guide its work in comparison with the other rec's, I wonder if this is better addressed outside of ICANN?
On the report structure:
* On the structure, to @farzaneh badii<mailto:farzaneh.badii at GMAIL.COM>’s point on including something about due process mechanisms when conducting DNS abuse mitigation, I agree, but wonder if we could place it under a different section - perhaps in the intro or in section 3 on key findings? The thought being that this isn’t a topic to be investigated so having it as part of the rec’s section doesn’t make sense to me. But I do think it’s important to have it as part of the underlying framing for the report and the draft charter to come and underlying the work to come from this issue report. What do others think?
Best,
Michaela

Subject: DNS abuse small team report
Hi NCSG
DNS abuse small team is making some recommendations and possible convening of a PDP on a few issues. I have made comments on them, have a look and let us know if you disagree with the priorities. I personally disagree with how the priorities are framed and also suggested we add registrants due process as a priority in DNS abuse mitigation as well. Here you go: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YEOumqFxP9NdXSx164jYNe1z1GYzA2JQ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=110292341657627228800&rtpof=true&sd=true
Best regards,
Farzaneh
