There are potentially three slots at this moment.
In my opinion, we have a deep interest in the economics of the DNS
industry. First of all, affordability of domain names for mere
non=commercial folks like us depends on a flourishing industry.
Burdening the CPS with a lot admin, duties, fees for running a giant
EPDP system for disclosure, etc. ultimately means higher prices for the
domain names. Secondly, ICANN resources are totally dependent on a tax
on DNS registration revenues. Continued growth of ICANN Org, unnecessary
expenses, all impact whether we get support as a community, and whether
we can afford domain names.
I hope this is clear. There are lots of countries with no local
registrars, that is also a big issue in my opinion.
cheers Stephanie
