I totally agree Kris, i mean i understand the issue of privacy, i am just not sure who are we trying to protect so hard and by saying so who is left out.
I also don’t agree with just giving out information to anyone like it happens for the moment but the GDPR is going to be a great challenge for most of the greatest issues we deal with online at the moment.
Phishing, child abuse and terrorism - if you need a warrant for each of this by the time it is obtain and allow you to get the info from the ISP it might be all to late.
We need to understand very well who we are looking to protect here and when i say that read between the lines for all that the institutions also like to implement.
Institutions are there to help in general but more to often the ones making policy live in bubble that are out of others reality.
We do need a different system but it has to be well thought and all parties included in saying their concerns and those should be taken in consideration.

One of my greatest concerns here is child safety, it seem to often that no one speaks loud enough for them and they are far to often forgotten in the discussion.
The GDPR will make the issue greater than it is. The world of crime we have today is little to what it will be. Dark net will become a side problem for all of us.

With kind regards

Adela Bodea

I am sure we need the correct and validated details of anyone who registers to have them on Data base but some information coming from special request like authorities needs a different access. Based on who and what the subject of the issue comes to be.

Daniel Halloran, who in his bio is described as "one of ICANN's longest-serving employees" and reports directly to John Jeffrey, does not list his experience in establishing privacy frameworks nor their associated compliance structures in his bio. That said, I wish him all the best in this new role and look forward to seeing how ICANN's understanding of data protection law evolves over the coming months now that this position has been created...
