Civil Society Statement on GAC Sub-Group's Proposal on "Geographic Names" in Top Level Domain Names

What is hard to understand here is how GAC itself could go down this 
road knowing that it is a bad idea fraught with endless complications.

Are we to next hear that the governments of the globe want control over 
the force of gravity, or over the oxygen/nitrogen mix in the atmosphere?
Of course, I wouldn't mind if they paid a bit more attention to the 
carbon content of the atmosphere. They could do something about that.
