I wanted to bring up this request again for your attention, if your 
community group has not yet appointed its representative(s) to the 
upcoming IANA Naming Functions Review team. If it will be helpful, we 
are happy to convene a call with our colleagues who will be supporting 
the IFRT, who can describe the expected time commitment and scope of 
work as well as answer any questions you or your members may have. 
Please let me know if you would like us to organize such a call and if 
you will need more time to make the necessary appointments. Thank you!

I’m pleased to inform you that my colleagues supporting the IANA Naming 
Functions Review work have confirmed that an extension to *31 July 2023* 
will not result in a delay for the work to proceed as necessary under 
the Bylaws. Please be so kind as to send the name of your representative 
(one each from the RrSG, CSG and NCSG; and two from the RySG) to the

Dear Sam, Ashley, Julf, Susan, Brian and Tim (with Sue, Zoe, Andrea and 
Brenda in copy),

I am writing to ask if the RySG, RrSG, CSG and NCSG might wish to seek 
an extension to the suggested deadline by which each of your groups were 
to nominate representatives to the upcoming IANA Functions Review Team 
(IFRT). As you may recall, my colleague Jennifer Bryce wrote

to the SOAC community leaders in April 2023, asking for appointees to be 
named by *30 June 2023*.

ICANN org had suggested this deadline as under the Bylaws 
<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#article18> 
the next IANA Naming Functions Review must commence no later than five 
years after the previous IFRT was convened. In this case, this means 
that the ICANN Board will need to convene the second IFRT by 
mid-September 2023.

We understand that the community workload is currently very heavy and 
that it may not have been possible for each of your groups to name your 
representative (or two representatives, in the case of the RySG) by the 
suggested deadline. Please let me know if an extension will be helpful, 
in which case perhaps I can assist by seeking an extension to the end of 
this month (July 2023).
