Dear all,



As you prepare for your travels to ICANN87, here is a snapshot of upcoming
actions for ICANN88.



The ICANN87 Debrief and ICANN88 Kick Off call will take place the week of
the 02 November 2026 once all have returned from traveling. However, to
allow for all to have time to review materials and discuss with their
community members, we’re following what was done for ICANN87 and starting
the process early. Please find further information below.



   1. *Community Session Topics – submission open today *

On the block schedule, there are, as is usual for the Community Forum,
options for two Community Sessions. This can be discussed and agreed upon
during the ICANN88 Kick Off call and on this Planning mailing list.
However, for these discussions to be informed, we are opening the form for
topic submissions *today.* The submission period will remain open until the
13 of November 2026. All submissions will be circulated upon receipt on the
mailing list.

   2. *ICANN88 Block Schedule*

You will notice that the proposed ICANN88 Community Forum block schedule
spans *5.5 days*, rather than the traditional six days. This reflects the
ongoing implementation of the *How We Meet* recommendations, developed
collaboratively by ICANN org and the community to further improve the
effectiveness and efficiency of ICANN Public Meetings, building on the 2014
ICANN Meetings Strategy. One of the key recommendations was to shorten the
Community Forum while consolidating sessions to make better use of meeting
time and resources. The latest implementation update was shared with SOAC
Chairs on 12 October, following discussions at the ICANN86 Roundtable in
Seville, with a request to circulate it to their respective communities.

As usual, the attached block schedule is *for illustrative purposes only*
and remains open for discussion and feedback, both on this mailing list and
during our ICANN88 planning kick-off call following ICANN87.





   3. *Production Timeline *

Whilst we do have some time for discussion about the schedule and its
components, please do keep in mind our schedule building tool (EMS) opens
early January, therefore deadline extensions to the timeline will not be
possible. Please find the Production timeline attached.





   4. *ICANN88 Planning Calls*

These will take place for the ICANN87 debrief and the ICANN88 Kickoff call
during the week of the 02 November 2026. The Community Session Topic
finalization call will take place on the 23 of November 2026. Calendar
invitations will follow shortly.
