hi all,
some updates about community session planning for ICANN83.
There was no proposal submitted and so staff is proposing 2 different
topics instead to use the slots.
any concern or comment about those proposals?
Best,
Rafik
---------- Forwarded message ---------
Hello everyone,
As there were no proposals submitted as potential plenary topics for the
ICANN83 Policy Forum, we took the liberty of looking at the block schedule
in the context of other, ongoing community-wide work. We note that the
Initial Report for the “How We Meet” project will likely be published for
Public Comments next week, closing in mid-May (or three weeks before the
start of ICANN83). We also note that ICANN83 will take place shortly before
the IGF 2025 and a month before the WSIS+20 High Level Event in July.
Since we will not be scheduling a Community Session (plenary) for ICANN83,
we thought to suggest that the two slots in the original block schedule
that were initially earmarked for possible Community Sessions be repurposed
as follows:
1. Monday 9 June, 15:30 – 17:00 (Block 4): A Community Discussion on
WSIS+20 (to be co-facilitated by ICANN’s Government Engagement team and
members of the community WSIS+20 discussion group)
2. Thursday 12 June, 15:30 – 17:00 (Block 4): A working session for the
“How We Meet” project group to continue its discussion of the Public
Comments submitted and potential refinements to the topics outlined in its
Initial Report (open to the community to attend)
Of course, neither will be un-conflicted sessions so we are merely offering
this suggestion to facilitate your group’s schedule planning. Please let us
know if you have concerns or comments about these session ideas, which will
need to be requested and planned in the same way as the regular community
working sessions by the relevant ICANN staff teams. Thank you!
Best regards,
Mary & Nathalie
Dear all,
A reminder of one of the action items from our first ICANN83 Production
call:
1. By 1st April 20:00 UTC, please provide potential Community Session
topics to the list, with additional desired outcomes of the session,
intended target community groups, draft agenda, speaker names.
Should topics be received, the *second Production call will be held on the
3rd April 2025.* Staff will send the invitation out shortly.
Thank you all!
Nathalie
Dear all,
Thank you for those who joined the ICANN83 Planning Kick Off call today,
for those who couldn’t make it, the recording of the session [icann.zoom.us]

is available.
Please note that the ICANN83 Block Schedule has been updated further to the
discussion on the call, the placeholder Community Session has now been
removed from Thursday, last block.
The decision is yet to be made as to whether the first Community Session,
last block on Monday, will be deemed necessary. To that point, please see
further information below:
*ACTION ITEMS*

intended target community groups, draft agenda, speaker names.
Should topics be received, the *second Production call will be held on the
3rd April 2025.* Staff will send the invitation out shortly.
2. Feedback from ICANN82 was overall positive, with praise for the size
of the venue and rooms, with the caveat that having the meeting held on
several floors could hinder networking. Staff will clarify room location
information on the schedule, and continue to work on minimizing scheduling
conflicts.
Please find the updated Block Schedule and the ICANN83 Timeline attached to
this email.
Thank you all very, very much for your helpful and constructive feedback!
Best,
Nathalie
