And here, for your reference, is the note to the list which I sent on December 16th.  Now, as has been pointed out rather eloquently by Robin, my failure to check the website's accuracy thoroughly by comparing with the official GNSO Council list, led to a great deal of discussion/confusion about regional representation.  Now that this particular can of worms has been opened, I expect that we will have the matter re-discussed on the list.  Note that Tapani made no mention of the subject in his email call, which I think was an omission, but I stand ready to be corrected.

Given that Martin has indicated his intention to resign as of Feb 1, I would recommend adding the sentence "Please note that the field of candidates as ranked by the NCSG-EC will be used to fill any future council vacancies, until the next election.

Dear all,

As Amr Elsadr resigned from the council upon joining the staff, the
NCSG Executive Committee needs to appoint a temporary alternate to
replace him.

If you are interested in the job, please let me know as soon as
possible, but no later than Wednesday February 22 (one week from now).
The appointment is on the agenda of EC meeting on February 24, and we'd
want to have list of names at least two days in advance so we'll have
time to review them.

Please explain why you think you'd be good for the task and confirm
you could commit to the time it takes. Jumping in to the council
mid-term is not easy, so experience is one key criteria for the EC in
considering the appointment.

The term extends until ICANN60 in the fall in Abu Dhabi, although the
appointment can be made for a shorter time if the EC so chooses.
If this makes a difference for you, for example if you'd only be able
to do shorter time, or if you would not be interested in a shorter
appointment, let us know that, too.
