[Ncsg-discuss] A busy period ahead for the DNS

Hi All,

On our policy call yesterday, I asked our Councilors to consider the New 
gTLD Round when considering our policy priorities for the next year -- 
and to please slow down a bit in recognition that everyone should be 
watching the New gTLD round closely.  (We'll have to review the rules 
for New gTLDs later, right?)

August 2026 calendar with Wednesday August 12 circled

Europe out of the office? Isn’t this the month that everyone is on the

That’s true, but /this/ August is different. It will be an incredibly 
busy month for the domain industry.

Top level domain name applications are due on August 12. That’s also the 
deadline for anyone who wants to apply to be a backend registry provider.

Right now, companies are scurrying around, making final decisions for 
their primary and secondary strings, and putting the finishing touches 
on their applications."
