hey all,
As much as I appreciate this discussion being held on the list, Im failing
to see the reason for yet another moment of our members accusing people of
not being fully engaged on the matter and so on. This sort of exchange is
not productive and we should focus on what actually matters: rebalance of
nomcom.
@Judith Hellerstein <judith at jhellerstein.com>, I do also appreciate you
fishing for more information about the process and trying to understand
what was the real issue at the time. During these debates our SG was also
going through some issues regarding membership, as well as a previous chair
of NCUC had recently resigned and we happened to have a significant group
of new leadership that was still trying to grasp the issues - as well as
our most recent engagement issues during the pandemic.
Other than that, I wouldnt be so naive to frame the removal of
recommendation 10 as something thats directly connected to our
participation being in much small numbers. Even though the nomcom
rebalancing is something that would benefit GNSO as a whole since it allows
the group's membership to be fully portrayed at the nomcom level - its not
all constituencies and groups that envision this issue as a true relevant
one.
But Id like to suggest we focus on what we have on the table now and
discuss further possibilities for chatting with the Board and community
about this issue.
best,
B
