Fwd: [SOAC-Leaders-ICANNMeeting-Planning] ICANN69 Plenary Topic Proposals

This is why I was expressing support for Rafik’s position.
NCSG and advocates of registrants’ rights are often not included in these sessions, and as pointed out by others there have been many meetings of this sort and it’s not clear what new information is being offered. If Bruna or someone else with a strong registrant user perspective is included, this could be supported, but not until and unless we are.

hi,

it might not be enough to do so. I couldn't find overwhelming support in the list and that is why I believe we should reconsider any support for that plenary.

Best,

Rafik

I agree that the DNS abuse Webinar might look less innovative. But I believe that Joan, Stephanie or myself could point that out on the list and state our interest in being part of this or any other session - if theres interest, ofc.

While I agree with you Rafik, there was support expressed on the list for this one. Other suggestions welcome....

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for sharing this.
I am not sure we should support the webinar on DNS abuse. There were already several before on the topic even if this one is described as being more actions oriented. From the description I see several groups which we know already the positions and I don't see real balance there. unless there is involvement and change in the plenary, I don't think we can support the proposal as-is.

Best,

Rafik

Here is the final list of topics. If I am measuring your responses so far correctly, I would vote for three in this order:

6. Moving forward with WS2: Implementing the Human Rights Impact Assessment

1. The Domain Name Services Marketplace

3. Domain Name System Abuse: Practical Solutions.

Please let me know, the deadline for me to fill in the doodle poll on behalf of NCSG is midnight UTC on Wednesday the 26th

Kind regards

Stephanie Perrin

Dear Community Leaders:

Attached, please find an updated block schedule and final list of proposed topics for plenary sessions during ICANN69.

We received a total of six proposals for the following topics:

     * The Domain Name Services Marketplace (Market dynamics, business models and commercial drivers)
     * Enhancing the Effectiveness of ICANN’s Multistakeholder Model: A Way Forward
     * Domain Name System Abuse: Practical Solutions
     *   Consumer Protection Post WHOIS
     *   Recommendation Trepidation
     * Moving forward with WS2: Implementing the Human Rights Impact Assessment

Please socialize the attached proposals with your groups to determine the level of support for each topic. We will follow up with the planning group next week to determine whether we should utilize a voting form or schedule another call to prioritize and decide on the final plenary topics.

Best regards,

Tanzanica
