Hi everyone!
It is my duty as NCSG Chair, to communicate with you concerning the
upcoming elections for GNSO Council and NCSG Chair. Here are the
revised timelines, for our activities as a stakeholder group, related to
those elections. For further details about how our elections are
conducted, please see the NCSG Charter, available here:
https://gnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/filefield_25801/ncsg-charter-05may11-en.pdf
Section 4.
*NCSG Election Timeline*
7 May - Check in begins
14 May - 28 May: Nomination period
28 May: Deadline for nomination acceptance and candidate statement.
29 May or 01 June: Meet the candidates call / Check in ends.
02 June: Voter roll finalized
03 June - 17 June: Voting
18 June: Results announced
We need to elect four councilors, and the NCSG Chair. I have listed all
of our current councilors, for your convenience, so you can see the
regional distribution. As you know, we strive for gender balance and
regional distribution, with no more than two candidates from a region as
far as possible.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Rafik Dammak (SOI
<https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi/Rafik+Dammak+SOI>) -
AAPAC (AGM 2020) term limited
* Elsa Saade (SOI <https://community.icann.org/x/hyyOAw>) – NA – (AGM
2020) eligible for re-election
* Tatiana Tropina (SOI <https://community.icann.org/x/xAJ1Aw>) – EU
(AGM 2021) (no election for this seat)
* Juan Manuel Rojas (SOI
<https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi/Juan+Manuel+Rojas+SOI>)
– LAC (AGM 2020) eligible for re-election
* Farell Folly (SOI
<https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi/Farell+FOLLY+SOI>) – AF
(AGM 2021) (no election for this seat)
* James Gannon (SOI
<https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi/James+Gannon+SOI>) – EU
(AGM 2021) Eligible for re-election. This 2021 date listed here is
an error, as an appointee of the NCSG, James can only sit until the
General Annual Meeting, we have to hold an election for this seat
just as we do for Juan's seat. Had Farzi stayed, the seat would not
be up for election.
* NCSG Chair Stephanie Perrin (term limited)
As you can see, we have roughly three weeks to get ready for the
nomination period, and find suitable candidates interested in filling
these volunteer positions. I would like to encourage you all to
consider applying and am happy to answer any questions from you
concerning the roles and responsibilities.
Kind regards,
Stephanie Perrin
