Domain Renewals

Amr my few points : 

1. There is definitive news in the market where renewals by digital businesses r being curtailed due to their business cycles taking a hit. The data at this juncture may b suppressed or undeclared for obvious reasons;

2. ICANN may not have the power to interfere in the business of individual registries, but it’s obligation is surely not towards them but the consumers. So if NCSG mounts enough pressure, even a recommendation in that direction would have achieved a significant push for the “Non-Commercial” SG, making a statement in the larger interest of the society !

3. There Is a responsibility for every group that should be there to support digital businesses. Zoom for instance, from 5 million users, have gone to 100mil + users over just in 7 days. Please appreciate that the subscriptions that zoom has, are yearly or some are long term.  So we are asking for a couple of months !!

4. As far as the technical aspect is concerned, it is very simple. I don’t suppose as the NCSG we should Not worry about anyone’s business & their revenue cycles. 

5. Legally, My suggestion is iron clad. The force Majure Clause in all international agreements including those of the local contracting parties will take care of the extension of the domain renewal dates. 100% enforceable by law ! 

Just a few points to ponder. We can discuss more.
