NCSG Privacy Policy/ Call for volunteers

Hi Ayden,

Thanks for Your comments.

There is always room to edit/change or supplement - I am happy with whatever timeline the leadership thinks is appropriate. If Farzi thinks we need to get it out asap, I guess we should try, and then alwo improve later.

You are right - membership database, numerous of servers and providers in different countries is a bit too confusing even for ourselves, so I hope that while we draft - we can articulate and understand the problems clearly, and take action. We have to know where our info is going and who handles it.

But most of all, I would like to highlight that the purpose of the privacy policy is to actually be as simple as possible, to communicate things in simple lay terms. ICANN privacy policy is not an example for us at all here :)

Kind regards,

Thanks so much for drafting this, Monika.

I just wanted to note, I don't think we can get this approved before the Panama meeting - that is slightly too ambitious a deadline. I don't want to over-engineer everything but I would like us to have a better, more comprehensive privacy policy than ICANN org has, and this will take us some time to develop. We would also need to reflect a bit on all of the external tools we use (Slack, Google Docs, Trello all come to mind) and what personal data we do collect, who has access to it, and how long it is all retained. I've not even seen a screenshot of our membership management system, so it is hard to know what is contained in there.

Best wishes, Ayden

Hi Everyone,

Monika has drafted a preliminary NCSG Privacy Policy, which I shared in the Google Doc below. We are at the drafting stage and need your help (privacy experts) to finish up the document more quickly.

Please comment and add paragraphs as you deem necessary. We want to get this approved and in place preferably before Panama meeting, 25 June.

Best
