Hold us accountable

Dear NCSG members,

There are some mentions that committees need to be transparent and
accountable to the members and report on their work.

I think we have always tried to uphold these principles. the policy
committee has been always consultative and reporting, and Rafik has done a
remarkable job on that.

I am going to provide you with the periodic reports I used to do but sorry
sometimes my life gets in the way and I cannot do as much as I want.

In the meantime, those who are interested in following discussions in
different committees about different matters can check the following
archives :

1. NCSG-EC mailing list: this is the mailing list of the Executive
Committee.

Maryam or I  will send you (as we have been doing previously) all the notes
and recording etc of the meetings through NCSG mailing list.

There are some mentions that the members' approval process (when they want
to become a member of NCSG), is a black box and no one knows how we approve
them. That I will address as well by putting down the process and getting
the NCSG members and NCSG EC to approve these procedures to enhance
transparency.
In a nutshell, we approve the members through this process: 1. Comment on
their application: based on their SOI verify their noncommercial interest,
verify their interest in DNS policy

2. If the noncommercial interest or interest in DNS policy is not clear, we
contact them and ask them to clarify that.

3. If they do not get back to us, we give them a month but then we will
reject their application, with a note that they can re-apply.

(I am going to document all this, note that because of GDPR and privacy
principles we have decided at EC to remove the applicants that were
rejected for any reason from the database. we cannot retain their personal
information if they are not a member of  NCSG)
