I think I understand the point you are making Remmy.  While it does look 
like we are conflating three issues here, 1. election check-in, 2. 
removal of inactive members from mailing list, and 3. obtaining fresh 
consent for the collection and use of their personal information for the 
mailing list and election purposes, we are really just avoiding sending 
folks multiple emails, with the potential to confuse them.  People have 
definitely complained about traffic volume, so we are trying to be 
efficient. People who wish to remain on the mailing list but not vote 
can always spoil their ballots when they receive them from the automated 
system.
