Hi all,

ICANN published today as expected, since the related working group
finalized its work during Panama meeting, a public comment on Initial
Report on the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process
(Overarching Issues & Work Tracks 1-4).

This public comment is definitel interesting and crtitical as it concerns
the first deliverables from an important GNSO Working Group: the new gTLD
subsequent procedures. The WG was tasked to review the new gTLD program
and the applicant guidebook and to suggest any changes or amendments. It
organized its work via 4 working tracks (WT), in additon to late and
particular one WT5 for geonames issue. This report concerns WT1 to WT4 only.

You can find more details about the background of this public comment and
the initial report here
https://www.icann.org/public-comments/gtld-subsequent-procedures-initial-2018-07-03-en
. I will try to see more detailled summary to the mailing list in coming
days to explain the issue we may need to cover in our background and also
to elicit any initial comments from NCSG members on the report that can be
used for NCSG comment drafting.

To kick-off the discussion I created this google doc:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SxCa4cn-NEiS_tea-jUP02DSG6IEzf_O4_MBPLUtxZs/edit
.

Please let me know offlist if you want to volunteer for the drafting. It is
good to have several people to volunteer together and work as team so they
can share the burden in particular for this report. I will support you
during the drafting if you need any help. For this comment, we will also
ask for help and input from those involved in the working group as
participants to give us inisght and ideas. I can not stop from repeating
that is an important and critical public comment to cover and so
influencing the content of the recommendations.

You can find previous public comment submitted by NCSG here
https://community.icann.org/display/gnsononcomstake/Public+Comments+-+2018 and
listing those who drafted them.

Best Regards,

Rafik Dammak

NCSG Policy Committee Chair
