Questions to the Board in ICANN60

Dear All,
I joined recently as an NCSG member this year itself, few of the questions I would like to raise to ICANN Board.
Q1. Why ICANN as a not profit organization, only follows UN languages, ICANN doesn't come under the UN it is a multistakeholder body. So other Languages should also be included as per the number of Internet users in particular region or country, as I've noticed during the ICANN 57 meeting, Indians were having very good ideas and want to express their views during the meeting but they were not very good at speaking English and they felt, to attend and participate in ICANN meetings they need to learn English or other languages. Therefore, we may ask ICANN Board,  how they are planning to do to reduce such gap between non-English speaking internet users to participate in ICANN PDPs and other technical research etc.
Q2. Recently one of the end users suffered and end up paying a huge amount of money because they failed to renew their domain name. What steps ICANN Board can take or some kind of study they may propose to gather statistics related how many such kinds of cases occurs in last few years in which non-commercial end users suffered by paying a huge amount of money to the registrar or to any individual or any organisation etc.
If you guys find my questions irrelevant please let me know.

I tend to agree that some of the questions that have been discussed may not elicit substantive conversations on matters of specific interest from a noncommercial standpoint.   Asking about Ombudsman (not an unique CS issue) would probably get a defense of the Ombudsman; the NomCom would get a “wait until after the review” response; Puerto Rico will be discussed elsewhere, etc.  Maybe the Consumer Safeguards Director item. But yes, something on GDPR would be sensible esp. given the difficulties of getting a CS word into prior conversations.  Something probing on the revisiting of the closed generics issue or even Amazon could also be good if it’s not redundant with other conversations already happening in AD.

This looks like a good question to me. It could also work as GNSO
question, perhaps some councillor could suggest it to the council?

equality 3-3 at all costs, or consider settling for a compromise
of 3-2 with one-per-constituency plan).
This one would not work as a council question, I think.

(3) Why should the Consumer Safeguards Director be asking the
Community what he should be doing

This is another good question, though one that probably would not fly
if offered to the council (might be worth a shot though).

(4) Why the ICANN Board cannot take time to send representatives at
RIR meetings

This I think has already been answered.

(5) What'll happen with Puerto Rico

This one will probably be answered before Abu Dhabi (and decided
by the staff rather than the Board).

(6) Are there plans of other efforts where ICANN board becomes more
approachable by regional community members

This might work but is perhaps too easy, not so likely to elicit
a useful response.


So my tentative pick would be 1 and 3, but if possible try first
get the council take 1, in which case we could substitute 2 or 4.
