I think that's a very valid question. I think most of us are sufficiently
self-aware to be able to know where our positions differ from those of most
of our colleagues.



If you know this why not leaving the decision to the voters to decide by
voting for the right candidates.



As James mentioned, "there should be healthy competition amongst candidates
on what skills, abilities and indeed bandwidth they bring to the table". I
share that view.



                   As much as I shared the same view with you, the long
standing and position of candidates speaks more rather than beautiful
wording during the competition or campaign.


The role of a GNSO Councillor is like a three-legged stool; one must have
the right positions on the issues, the right character, and competence. If
one of these legs is missing, it doesn't matter how strong the other two
are — the entire structure could collapse.


              I could not agree more to Seun response. I do not agree with
that analogy at all. Where did you throw the role of learning and
development. Its widely accepted that learning is by doing.


                  I would liken your analogy to a closed system that give
no room for trial and error where only those who have the perfect knowledge
could function. Why then do we advocate for inclusion and development if we
can not adopt and practice it.



As a voter, you have the right to know what qualifies me for this office —
but you also have the right to know what may make me, or the other
candidates, unsuitable.


                  Sure. But unsuitable in what context? Is it in term of
agreement to ICANN mission or individual view to the NCSG mission or
understanding the ICANN environment or in the aspect of qualification or
experience/years of advocating or policy contributions or fluency or
ability to write pages of papers?


                   In this situation, its not that we do not know the the
candidates, we all do with their activeness in either  ICANN environment or
outside ICANN environment. What could make a candidate unsuitable will be
the numbers votes received. And that does not mean such candidate could not
represent well on the council seat.
