List management

In an attempt to better manage my time in the face of current list
traffic, I attempted to set my ncsg-discuss subscription options to
Digest mode. (That is, all the messages posted over a reasonable period
of time sent in a single message.)

The server (listserv.syr.edu) refuses, saying "digests not available for
this list".

Is there some reason why this feature has not been enabled? Most lists
offer this option.

I'd like to see daily (or even weekly) digests available as an option.

The current choices - a deluge of messages or none at all are both
unappealing... and yes, I could create a rule to move them to a folder -
but then they risk being ignored.

(Before the interrupt-driven folks panic: this is a per-subscriber
choice - one has to opt-in to digest mode delivery.)

Note that the (mailman-based) NCUC list offers a digest option (but for
some reason it's sending digests several times a day.)

Thanks.

[Here is the exact error from listserv]
