[NCSG-PC] [UPDATE] ICANN87 Plenary Session "The gap in registrant recourse - next steps."

 Hi everyone,

Last week, @farzaneh badii<mailto:farzaneh.badii at gmail.com> and I met with the CPH and ICANN staff on behalf of the NCSG to discuss preparations for the ICANN87 plenary session on "The gap in registrant recourse - next steps."

The aim is to convene a cross-community discussion on the gap in recourse/dispute mechanisms for registrants when they are subject to an incorrect suspension/deletion of domain names.

We are reaching out to the PC to request feedback on the moderator and slate of proposed speakers for the session (copied below).

Please let us know by end of week if you object and/or if you would like for us to propose any alternates (for moderator or speakers). Thanks!

The session will:

 *
examine the recourse mechanisms currently available to domain name registrants within the ICANN ecosystem;
 *
examine current practices utilised by registries and registrars;
 *
identify where the most significant gaps lie;
 *
And engage the community in a discussion about what concrete steps can be taken to strengthen and expand access to meaningful recourse for registrants.

The plan is to have a panel with representatives from:

 *
ICANN compliance (tbc, likely Leticia Castillo-Sojo)
 *
CPH (Brian Cimbolic, RySG, PIR)
 *
GAC (Janos Drienyovszki, European Commission)
 *
CcNSO (Bruce Tonkin (ccNSO, AuDA)
 *
NCSG (Michaela Nakayama Shapiro)
