Dear Bruna and Friends,

I think we have an excellent candidate for Vice Chair, and he brings
deep experience and expertise.Peter Akinremi has been our Council Vice
Chair for a year, deeply involved in helping create agendas, shaping the
annual Strategic Planning Session, and working with Council leadership
and staff to prioritize and plan.

As you know, the UDRP ahead and I am deeply worried. With the UDRP on
the agenda, we need Peter’s experience and expertise; his knowledge of
Council and the UDRP are invaluable right now.As you might know, Peter
is part of our informal UDRP Data Team and he reviewed dozens of UDRP
decisions – by eye not AI – and he knows first-hand the imbalances,
problems and concerns in these UDRP decisions for noncommercial and
Global South registrants.

With a year of experience on Council, Peter is the right person to
continue as Vice Chair, and even the CSG is likely to agree. They want
someone who “knows the ropes” and has experience and expertise on
Council, and Peter brings it. They also know he is fair and expert, and
that is good for the entire Non-Contracted Party House.

I should add that Peter’s experience in another area impresses me– he is
working on his PhD and writing his dissertation on critical Internet
infrastructure and cyber resilience at the University of Cincinnati.

Samantha is good, as are the entire Verisign team, yet they do think
hard about their registrants in the .COM community./It would be
imbalanced for Sam and Vivek to lead together. /This year is far too
important.Peter brings deep expertise and experience on Council and
ICANN/Internet policies – he is a critical NCSG leader at a critical
moment in time.

I support Peter continuing as Vice Chair for the next year.

Best regards,

Kathy
