hi all,
recordings and summary of the ICANN87 kickoff call.
There are action items about later start of the meeting, if it is something
to support and about having RoR as topic for discussion for board and
community discussion.
For the plenary session, I shared with RrSG that we are interested in
joining them for the proposal.
Best,
Rafik

Dear all,
A huge thank you to those who joined the call. The feedback and input
shared were as always very helpful and informative. The slide deck shared
on the call is attached to this email, and the recording

of the call is now available.
Please find below a summary of the call and details of next steps for
ICANN87 Planning:
1. *Feedback from ICANN86*
- Overall support for the venue and meeting in general, with suggestions
of improvement regarding accessibility, some acoustic and electrical
issues, and several meeting rooms being too far from the main building.
- Shuttles were appreciated, despite inconsistencies with announced
departure times, but a venue within walking distance of hotels is always
preferred.
- Schedule was packed leading to several scheduling conflicts, whilst
this is often the case at a Policy forum, improvements can still be made.
- Room sizes were appropriate and space agreeable, although there were
more instances than usual with stand alone spaces only.
- Onsite lunch options with ample seating were appreciated.
- Later start time to the day was deemed successful by those on the
call. Several asked for this to be a standing feature to allow for
breakfast meeting time and jetlag recovery. Further input has been
requested as this may need to be on a case-by-case basis pending the
locations and cultural habits of future meetings.
2. *ICANN87 Block Schedule*
Two block schedules were circulated on the planning mailing list; these
were discussed on the call with the following decisions:
- One longer Public Forum is preferable to two separate sessions. This
would be ideally on Thursday for groups to relay the discussions held the
days before.
- The Executive Q&A should be held on the Monday
- The Geopolitical forum can be held as an in-person session but needs
to be accordingly engaging and dynamic. Support was expressed for the
ICANN86 Geopolitical Forum held during Prep Week.
- Regarding the Board and Community Discussion, the Review of Reviews
was raised as a possible topic of interest to put forward. Staff will reach
out to Board Support.
3. *Action Items*
- *Community Session topics: *The submission period will remain open
until the 3rd of July 2026. All submissions will be circulated upon
receipt on the mailing list.
- Form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9VSDKS9 [surveymonkey.com]

- *Late start to meeting*: Please discuss with your members, staff will
discuss feasibility for upcoming meetings
- *Board and Community Discussion session*: Please share your support or
objection on the planning mailing list.
I will circulate the updated Block Schedule on the Planning mailing list
shortly. Invitations for the 2nd Production call for the 16th July will be
sent out in the next few days.
Thank you all!
Best,
Nathalie
