While we are just few days away from ICANN86, preparation for ICANN87
starting already.

There are some questions about having community sessions, including
submitting topics by 3rd July.

Please check and let me know if we should submit any topic for
consideration.

Dear all,



As you prepare for your travels to ICANN86, here is a snapshot of upcoming
actions for ICANN87.



The ICANN86 Debrief and CANN87 Kick Off call will take place the week of
the 22 June 2026 once all have returned from traveling. However, to allow
for all to have time to review materials and discuss with their community
members, we’re following what was done for ICANN86 and starting the process
early. Please find further information below.



   1. *Community Session Topics – submission open today *

On the block schedule, there are, as is usual for the Annual General
Meeting, options for two Community Sessions. This can be discussed and
agreed upon during the ICANN87 Kick Off call and on this Planning mailing
list. However, for these discussions to be informed, we are opening the
form for topic submissions *today.* The submission period will remain open
until the 3rd of July 2026. All submissions will be circulated upon receipt
on the mailing list.

The timeline for the Community Session Topics submission and subsequent
vote is more relaxed than previously given we have more time between the
Policy Forum and the Annual General meeting.



*ICANN87 COMMUNITY SESSION TOPICS TIMELINE *

Staff will notify the mailing list upon each submission of topic.

   2. *ICANN87 Block Schedule*

During the Public Forum in Mumbai, there were several comments in the chat
regarding the fact the Public Forum was an engaging moment, but too short
in time. We have therefore prepared two block schedules for your review :
one with two public forum sessions, and another with just one session but
with a 90 min duration. Several of you may remember this being outlined in
the Meeting Strategy Working Group recommendations but subsequently dropped
due to lack of space in the schedule.  Both versions are in the document
attached this email.



*Option 1*: 2 Community Sessions (Monday), 2 Public Forums (Monday and
Thursday), Geopolitical Forum, Q&A with ICANN’s Executive Team. (no
available slot for the Board and Community Discussion session raised during
the How We Meet sessions but has not taken place yet).



*Option 2*: 2 Community Sessions (Monday), 1 90-min Public Forum
(Thursday), Geopolitical Forum, Q&A with ICANN’s Executive Team, (a
penciled in slot for the Board and Community Discussion.)



We have put forward these two options for illustrative purposes only, after
discussion with the group, it is highly possible the finalized block
schedule may be a 3rd or 4th iteration, so please do not feel constrained
by the suggestions.





   3. *Production Timeline *

Whilst we do have more time for discussion about the schedule and its
components, please do keep in mind our schedule building tool (EMS) opens
early August, therefore deadline extensions to the timeline will not be
possible. Please find the Production timeline attached.





   4. *ICANN87 Planning Calls*

These will take place for the ICANN86 debrief and the ICANN87 Kickoff call
during the week of the 22 June 2026. The Community Session Topic
finalization call will take place on the 16th of July 2026. Calendar
invitations will follow shortly.
