A vote will be held via eBallot from Today, Tuesday 23 December (you should receive ballots by 20 UTC) to Friday, 2 January 23:59 UTC.
A few notes before ballots are sent out:

  *   Once you submit a ballot, there is no way to edit or resubmit.

  *   Results to be shared by 5 January.

I understand we are close to holidays season but we are also pretty late regarding the election. We really need to have someone to take over asap. Tomslin helped for some time after the end of his  term and there is some vacancy now. I can support partly but I am not really  supposed to lead PC by the charter.

While I completely agree that we need a new chair as soon as possible, I wonder if we’ll have better luck with finding a strong slate of candidates if we keep the call open until the first week of January, with the vote shortly after?

This is based on many folks in Europe (or I can speak for myself, the ARTICLE 19 team) already being off for the holidays and not back into the 2nd or even the 5th of January. Additionally, with competing deadlines at the end of the year for our day jobs, it’s possible people may not be as attentive to ICANN mailing lists (though again, this may be just me!).

If others agree with the proposed timeline I’m of course all in! Sharing a few additional considerations but very aware these are based on my situation and may not be applicable more broadly :)

As I just shared, a first action for the new PC is to elect a PC chair to replace Tomslin.
I cannot find a written operating procedure  for the election but the previous practice was to ask for candidates and have a vote by all members of PC for a short period.

I propose we run this for one week to end by the time of winter holidays. Starting the call for candidates on Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th December then, starting vote from Monday to Wednesday 24th December. I know Andrea and ICANN will be off starting from next week.

It will be great to get this done and get the new PC chair to start managing public comments and coordination asap.

Please let me know your thoughts.
