Thank you for your message and for your attention to the information shared
publicly.


We would like to clarify that Smart Africa signed a cooperation MoU with
AFRINIC in 2020, as several other African institutions have also done. This
cooperation focuses only on capacity-building and supporting African
countries and organisations in the efficient management of Internet number
resources, which are essential for critical infrastructure and digital
transformation.

This partnership is limited to technical collaboration, training, and
support to national Internet-related initiatives.


AFRINIC remains fully guided by ICP-2 principles, which define the
independence and operating model of Regional Internet Registries.

We also reaffirm AFRINIC’s mission: *“To serve the African Internet
community by delivering efficient services in a global multi-stakeholder
environment.” *As the African RIR, AFRINIC works with all relevant
stakeholders across the continent, both public and private.


We wish to reassure you that AFRINIC’s governance remains entirely rooted
in its resource members, and SmartAfrica is not interfering in AFRINIC’s
affairs.

Following the link, I read the statement, which is not yet announced to
members, but a paragraph captured my attention: Would you clarify what type
of collaboration? What frameworks? Under what capacity is Smart Africa
acting on AFRINIC affairs, and what does "Ally" mean? How is it translated?
