We don?t have exact dates, but if you look at the attachment with the production timelines, the EMS submissions is when we start entering the sessions into our scheduling system which is 18 August. I would say, generally, I need to have confirmed sessions about 2 weeks before that, although it may be sooner. We may have more information after the first production call as well, but the planning for sessions should begin now. Also, take a look at the block schedule attachment as that will show how the days are going to be set up. For example, there will only be 1 90-minute block available each day. Thanks! We also got the timeline for submitting meetings requests. Andrea and I will work on that to submit for NCSG sessions (Juan, Wisdom and I will coordinate to have a NC day ), joint sessions after we confirm the counterparts and possibly community sessions. I will share updates when we have the outline of all sessions Best, Rafik ---------- Forwarded message --------- Dear all, Please find attached the updated block schedule. It was pointed out to me that the Community Excellence Award happens at the Community Forum, the Dr Tarek Kamel for Capacity Building award takes place during the AGM Welcome Ceremony. Monday?s first block has been modified accordingly. Thank you! Nathalie Dear all, The ICANN84 Kick Off Production call will take place next week, you will receive the invitation in your inboxes shortly. Please bear in mind the following: * The draft block schedule follows a thought process stemming from what worked at previous AGMs and equally other ICANN meetings. It can however be modified and tweaked according to your collective input. The joint Board / SOAC sessions are penciled in and can also be changed. * The production timeline shows an estimate of the deadlines by which scheduling steps should have taken place. The timeline has been stretched across July and August to allow for sufficient preparation time. Looking forward to reviewing ICANN83 and preparing ICANN84 with you all next week! Thank you, Kind regards, The Schedule Team _______________________________________________ NCSG-EC mailing list NCSG-EC at lists.ncsg.is https://lists.ncsg.is/mailman/listinfo/ncsg-ec [lists.ncsg.is] -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Best, Rafik ---------- Forwarded message --------- Dear all, Thank you to those of you who joined the ICANN83 Debrief and ICANN84 Kick off call earlier today. For those of you who couldn?t make it, please find the recording as well as the slide deck attached. Below are the summarized main points discussed today: 1. *Feedback from ICANN83, Prague* The overall impression was positive. The closeness to public transport was appreciated, as was the venue and the size and setup of the rooms. We were reminded of the importance of accessibility to the venue and to sessions. The Meetings team was congratulated on the speed with which these issues were resolved. It was noted that wide availability of power outlets will be very beneficial to attendees, though it was understood that this is largely dependent on the venue. 2. *ICANN84 location change to Dublin* Following the announcement published on Monday 30 June 2025, the location of ICANN84 is now Dublin. Further information on travel as well as hotels will be published on the ICANN meeting website shortly. 3. *ICANN84 Block Schedule and timeline* The proposed block schedule (see attached) has been updated with an additional proposed community session on Thursday, in addition to the session already scheduled on Monday. This proposal reflects the importance of the topic of Reviews that was evident at ICANN83. By having a second community session on the final day, following the traditional Constituency Day meetings and joint sessions, the thought was that ICANN84 would provide a productive opportunity for the Board and community to advance the work. It was agreed that there will need to be inter-sessional preparations and discussions to enable the work to move forward expeditiously, as well as a possible Prep Week session. A few other topics were proposed as potential plenary ideas for a community session. It was noted that the overall schedule may be sufficiently flexible to allow for some topics to be hosted by specific SOAC groups as open plenaries, which is already the practice in one or two groups. The main idea is to make sure that any community sessions and other plenary-type sessions are confirmed and placed on the block schedule prior to the opening of the Event Management System request period, to allow for maximum flexibility and for each group to decide how it wishes to schedule its own sessions. As per the timeline (attached), a deadline of Friday 11 July was proposed for members of the ICANN meeting Planning Team to consult with their community groups as per the action item below. 4. *Action Items ? by Friday July 11 2025 * *All: *Kindly consult with your community members and raise any objection to the idea of holding two community sessions on the topic of ICANN reviews on this ICANN Meeting Planning mailing list *All:* Kindly consider the additional topics (listed below) for sessions proposed during the Kick Off call, and indicate if your group supports including any of them at ICANN84. Please also share any suggestion you or your group may have about how to accommodate additional topics in the ICANN84 schedule. - The Applicant Support Program (Jonathan Zuck) - The topic of Accuracy (Rafik Dammak) - AFRINIC & WSIS +20 (Sebastien Bachollet) *All*: Bearing the above in mind, please share any additional topics your group believes should also be considered as a session of broad community interest at ICANN84, and your suggestions for how to accommodate it. *Topic Proposers*: Please share further details about the topic you have proposed, e.g., session objectives, format, scope and desired outcomes ASAP. This will help the group decide, if necessary, what topic(s) should be accommodated at ICANN84 and why. Thank you all! "Advancing work" can be done in one session only, at the end of the meetings, giving the community the chance to debate their positions during ICANN84, after starting initial discussion online. Informative sessions about the subject can be delivered in the Pre-week. Besides that, AFRINIC + WSIS+20? What was Sebastien's idea here? "WSIS+20 next steps" could be a good topic to debate, depending on what happens in the following week, but linking AFRINIC to it does not seem to be ideal. This cross-community session invites all stakeholder groups to share perspectives, experiences, and expectations surrounding accuracy requirements in WHOIS/RDDS data. Different communities define accuracy in very different ways. For the Noncommercial Stakeholder Group (NCSG), accuracy must be limited to *contactability*, to avoid unnecessary interference with privacy and expression rights. In contrast, some other stakeholders often advocate for *identifiability* of registrants, viewing accuracy as a means of attribution and enforcement. Security-focused groups such as the SSAC have highlighted risks and tradeoffs in SAC129, including the need for clarity in what "accuracy" means in varying use cases and whether existing policies provide sufficient mechanisms for achieving appropriate levels of data reliability. But when discussing all this at ICANN, we should not lose sight of its limited mission. The session aims to: - Map the diverse interpretations of ?accuracy? across communities and allow them to understand each others concerns and perspectives - Discuss how proportionality and rights-respecting principles can guide accuracy efforts, particularly under applicable data protection and privacy standards and considering ICANN's mission; - Discuss what other principles should be applied when discussing accuracy The session aims to foster open dialogue across diverse perspectives including registrars, registries, technical experts, civil society, and government representatives, intellectual property and businesses, ALAC and others to help shape a common understanding of what proportionate and effective accuracy policies could look like in the evolving DNS landscape. This will be a truly cross-community session and it's not an NCSG session, if approved, stakeholders interested will join to shape the session.
