[NCSG-PC] [Ext] Re: PC chair election

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my vision for the Policy Committee so you can make an
informed decision about my candidacy.

As you know, my approach centers on consulting with all members on key
issues, with the NCSG mailing list serving as our primary communication
channel.

My commitments and expectations:

Collaboration and transparency: Rafik chairs NCSG, and the PC and NCSG
chairs must work together to ensure strong policy contributions. Rafik and
I will facilitate open decision-making through our mailing lists, where
your input is essential. Active participation builds trust and keeps our
membership informed about our work and decision-making process.

Accountability and engagement: I expect all PC members to weigh in on
different questions and decisions. If you need background on an issue,
please reach out—I'm happy to explain. If you're unable to participate in
key votes, I ask that you let us know why. PC members should also actively
respond to general NCSG programming discussions—when Rafik requests
proposals for sessions or other initiatives, your input is valuable and
needed. In short, if you are a council member or a PC member you need to
pay a lot of attention to this mailing list and weigh in. We make decisions
through the mailing list.

Shared leadership: Every PC member should lead or co-lead at least one
public comment during the next six months. This distributes the workload
and showcases our collective expertise.

Support for members: If I notice reduced activity from any PC or council
member, I'll reach out privately first to see if you need support. Only
after three attempts without response will I involve the relevant
constituency or stakeholder group chair.

Regular reporting I plan to reinstate periodic reporting to members after
ICANN and council meetings—a practice we had years ago. Each PC member
should volunteer to report back at least once annually. If we have enough
volunteers, we could cover different ICANN meetings as well.

Monitoring council meeting: All PC members need to know what is going on on
the council. as much as possible observe those meetings or watch the
recording.

The work ahead requires active participation and leadership from all of us.
I wanted to outline these expectations now so there are no surprises later.

We can also do an onboarding beginning of the year so that we are all on
the same page.

Thank you for considering voting for me.
Best regards,

Farzaneh
