This would possibly be the opportunity to a dd a similar rule
as the one applied to the Board: "No official of a national
government or a multinational entity established by treaty or other
agreement between national governments may serve as a Director."

Unfortunately that rule is set in the ICANN Bylaws, and
it only applies to the board, but GNSO could at least have
it as a recommendation in the job description.

Dear GNSO Councilors,

As occurs on an annual basis, the Nominating Committee (NomCom) has 
invited the GNSO Council to review the skill-set and GNSO job 
description that is used both for recruitment and for the NomCom to use 
in their evaluation processes. You can see the 2024 job description here 
<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/nomcom2024-positions-2024-01-03-en>, 
which was a result of the Council’s review and revisions a few years ago.

Council leadership has reviewed the 2024 job description and believe it 
remains fit for purpose and can again be used in 2025. Our suggestion is 
to move forward with the current job description for 2025. However, if 
you believe changes are needed, please reply to this message by 15 
October. If changes are needed and are of a substantive nature, we may 
need to consider establishing a short-lived drafting team. If changes 
are not needed, we will simply convey that message to the NomCom 
Operations Team.
