Hi all,
Please find attached the list of submitted topics for the community session
and let me know your feedback.
I will cast a vote on the survey tool regarding those sessions, so any
guidance is welcome. Personally, I am not supporting those community
sessions since most of the time we will spend effort and energy trying to
get there, we have less influence in the content since it is quite driven
by the groups who submitted them. I also didn't hear so much positive
feedback about those sessions in terms of content. However, that is just my
opinion and I understand that others might see some benefits or usefulness
there. So let me know your suggestions/preferences.
Best,
Rafik

*Subject: *[SOAC-Leaders-ICANNMeeting-Planning] Recording Production call
ICANN82 #2 and next steps ICANN82 Community Session
Dear all,
Thank you to those who attended the second ICANN82 Production call held
yesterday, 4th December 2024 at 17:00 UTC. For those who couldn’t make it,
please find the Zoom recording here [icann.zoom.us]
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/icann.zoom.us/rec/play/POkcvYbJipRLUPrc7znFkd9wzZ_qcVFzS8kuHZhJWlOnLZrm0fv6aEVw_mPsQIhFwP9ymJtwYe4ixK3i.QXd_r7NkH-nb--hz__;!!PtGJab4!-UUPOVfYG58p0dx6ixw1dZXg67UzXitAGwkAwLCtR2dzbF-wb1XIqJ5fyCLS1-mLa5EpyMKKYOy9GYQAnILVEvhw3KZVv7lMNEe6sT8$>.
As first agenda item, the *ICANN82 Block Schedule,* updated with community
leader input shared on the first Production call, was accepted by those on
the call. This has now been circulated to the SOAC Support staff who will
assist the different community groups with their scheduling needs. It is
also attached to this email for your reference.
The *ICANN82 Production timeline*, also attached to this email, was shared
with an emphasis on the tight timeline until ICANN82. The EMS (scheduling
tool) opening date, the 6th January 2025, was highlighted as the date by
which SO/AC internal schedules must be nearing completion, as meeting
session requests will need to be submitted via EMS to be posted to the
official meeting schedule. EMS will close on 17 January 2025.
This also impacts the *Community Session topic* discussion, as the choice
of the topic will inform SO/AC session scheduling. Community leaders will
need to decide whether to participate/ attend or schedule against the
Community Session, currently scheduled for Monday 10 March 2025, 10:45 –
12:00 local time.
The *following next steps *were agreed upon:
- Staff will send out a list of plenary topic suggestions from ICANN81
to the planning list for community leaders’ reference (please see third
attachment to this email).
- Community leaders are invited to submit their suggested topics to the
list, before the suggested deadline of 16 December 2024.
- The suggested topics will be compiled in a survey or similar ranking
tool, to be circulated to the community leaders.
- A third Production call will be scheduled on the 18 December 2024 for
a discussion on the Community Session topic (if needed).
*Note: *The 18 December Production call can be canceled if it is clear that
a decision can be made via the mailing list or if more time is needed (e.g.
to complete the survey). Optimally, a decision should be reached by early
January to coincide with the EMS dates.
Additional questions during the call covered the SOAC Chairs Roundtable,
confirmed for Friday 7 March 2025, time to be determined, but likelihood is
the afternoon, early evening period. The possibility of other pre-meeting
events taking place was raised, and this will be taken into consideration
when confirming the exact timing of the Roundtable. Policy staff will check
with Board Operations team and CEO Office to block the requested time.
Please us know if you have any questions or concerns,
Best,
Nathalie
