mentors program is October 15th.? Stefan Filipovic has volunteered for 
the Selection Committee.? He was a NextGen participant at ICANN63 and 
NextGen ambassador at ICANN66. Given that he has also participated on 
the EPDP, and has a number of professional qualifications and critical 
thinking skills which recommend him for the job, I would like to suggest 
that we accept him as our nominee.? I know of no other candidates so far.

I am sharing the draft agenda for the  NCSG Policy Committee meeting this
Thursday which is open to everyone. Please let me know if you have any
comments or amendments for the agenda.

There is no motion for vote other than the one in consent agenda about
appointment of GNSO council liaison to GAC but there are several optics for
discussion:
- the consent agenda itself has several items and all documents/actions
there should be reviewed prior to the meeting to see if there is anything
concerning.
- EPDP phase 1 rec 7, this topic has been for a while with council and will
be also discussed with the board in council-board meeting. There is a small
team working on next steps.  Things are not moving quickly there and
something for the next council to follow closely.
- Follow-up of resolved 1.b for EPDP phase 2 final report regarding
consultation with board about SSAD recommendations. council will discuss
next steps and what is mentioned in the transmittal letter
-  Draft Operational Design Phase for gTLD Policy Implementation: the new
paper shared by Goran and ICANN org, it is also included in topics for
discussion between NCSG and Board

This is for part 1 of the meeting, part 2 is mainly about the GNSO chair
election.
we will have 90min for the meeting and hope no zoom bombing this time.

hi all,

my term in council and so in NCSG PC will end next week Wednesday at the
end of GNSO council meeting. I am sending this to suggest that PC start
planning for the selection of NCSG PC chair (and for vice-chair in same
time or later). I believe that at least new councillors are already in the
list. Constituencies might appoint or confirm later their representatives
to PC but we already had the representatives appointed this year.

I am suggesting to start soon since there will be already several tasks for
PC to work on such appointments to SCBO, SSC among others things in
addition to ongoing public comments to be reviewed before their deadlines
for endorsement.

We had a proposal of a process we followed last time that can be reused for
the purpose. In terms of organization, I can suggest that incoming NCSG
chair and ongoing vice-chair can work together to organize the election.

*1- Nomination period: from 17th to 24th April*

*Nomination and self-nomination are both permitted from and
within PC members (NCSG councillors, NCSG Chair, representatives from NCUC
and NPOC to PC), for one year term for PC chair position.*

*all PC members should vote. the GNSO support staff will act as
the election officer. The options in the ballot should be the candidates

*the candidate who get  2/3 vote of the NCSG?PC membership will be declared
winner.*

*4- Vice-chairs appointments:*

*After PC chair confirmation, a call for interest should be made to have up
to 2 vice-chairs. The appointment of the volunteers will be confirmed if
there is no objection within PC.*

Subject: [NCSG-EC] Next gen selection committee
Hi there,

As you all know, the deadline for the Next gen selection committee and 
mentors program is October 15th.? Stefan Filipovic has volunteered for 
the Selection Committee.? He was a NextGen participant at ICANN63 and 
NextGen ambassador at ICANN66. Given that he has also participated on 
the EPDP, and has a number of professional qualifications and critical 
thinking skills which recommend him for the job, I would like to suggest 
that we accept him as our nominee.? I know of no other candidates so far.

The call was in the newsletter.? I am sorry if people were unaware, 
sometimes I highlight the material in the newsletter, sometimes I am too 
busy!

the process is for members to apply and then they get the endorsement 
from the PC.? Then we put forward a name from our SG....it is not a 
given that the person will be chosen.

I am sending this as a reminder and handover.
I already sent an email suggesting to start the process for PC chair
election asap and ensure the transition. Please respond and kick-off that
process.

I also wanted to flag that we have 5 public comments and still missing
volunteers

joining). The deadlines are getting closer.

There is also the paper on operational design phase for which Bruna sent a
google doc to start the drafting

We have also to respond to Marteen letter regarding the timing for GNSO
review. I also shared today in NCSG list the email regarding Terms of

Panel and our reps to the council should follow-up in council on that
matter.

Regarding appointments, it is urgent to confirm representatives to SCBO ,
encouraging councillors to join and appointing SME if needed. The SCBO will
already start working on council comments for the PTI budget. We have also
to replace 2 representatives to the SSC as they are term limited.

Please schedule the next NCSG policy call for next month. We tried before
to have a schedule for several months ahead so everyone has that in their
calendars. Maryam can help with that.

Regarding long term, something I wanted to work on but didn't was the PC
operating procedures, I have an old draft started previously I am happy to
share if PC wants to continue the work on that. I was also supposed to work
on chair role description but I didn't have a chance to do so. I might try
to do that in the next few days.

my term in council and so in NCSG PC will end next week Wednesday at the
end of GNSO council meeting. I am sending this to suggest that PC start
planning for the selection of NCSG PC chair (and for vice-chair in same
time or later). I believe that at least new councillors are already in the
list. Constituencies might appoint or confirm later their representatives
to PC but we already had the representatives appointed this year.

I am suggesting to start soon since there will be already several tasks for
PC to work on such appointments to SCBO, SSC among others things in
addition to ongoing public comments to be reviewed before their deadlines
for endorsement.

We had a proposal of a process we followed last time that can be reused for
the purpose. In terms of organization, I can suggest that incoming NCSG
chair and ongoing vice-chair can work together to organize the election.

*1- Nomination period: from 17th to 24th April*

*Nomination and self-nomination are both permitted from and
within PC members (NCSG councillors, NCSG Chair, representatives from NCUC
and NPOC to PC), for one year term for PC chair position.*
*The nominee should accept the nomination and send a short SOI by the 24th
April.*

*2- Election : from 27th April to 1st May*

*all PC members should vote. the GNSO support staff will act as
the election officer. The options in the ballot should be the candidates
who confirmed by the deadline and NOTA *


*3- Result: should be available by 2nd May*

*the candidate who get  2/3 vote of the NCSG?PC membership will be declared
winner.*

*4- Vice-chairs appointments:*

*After PC chair confirmation, a call for interest should be made to have up
to 2 vice-chairs. The appointment of the volunteers will be confirmed if
there is no objection within PC.*

Dear all,
I am writing to you in order to announce our call for volunteers for the
position of Policy Committee Chair. This is a process that will be started
by the 26 th of October and should end by November 9th.


Over the course of the election of this position, Farell Folly, PC
Vice-Chair will help us with the reminders to the list about new and
current Public Comments, as well as coordinate NCSGs submissions.

POSITION

Policy Committee Chair over the course of a 1 year term.  The chair tasks
can be summarized into:


   -

   Managing PC work:
   -

      Acting as project manager and tracking tasks and activities;
      -

      Following closely policy discussions, initiatives and public
      comments. Liaising with drafting team for public comments;
      -

      Following closely the deadlines, ensuring NCSG has enough volunteers
      to draft comments and delivering in a timely manner;
      -

      Identify NCSG members participating in PDP WG and liaise with them
      for reporting and updates; e
      -

      Organize the appointment of NCSG representatives by PC to GNSO
      council committees, PDP WG when there is a call for members etc.


   -

   Liaising with GNSO Council work and its committees (SSC, SCBO, PDP 3.0
   small team);
   -

   Track progress for working groups and approaching members to get
   updates;
   -

   Planning tasks (e.g. review of public comments, selection/appointment of
   NCSG representatives), schedule the NCSG policy calls and PC meetings,
   sharing agendas with PC members for review;
   -

   Plan and schedule topic webinars on policy issue;
   -

   Liaising with NCSG chair regarding NCSG letters to board and
   communication with other SG/C; e
   -

   Work with PC vice-chairs.


IMPORTANT INFO


   -

   This is a call open to all NCSG councillors and representatives from
   NCUC and NPOC to Policy Committee;
   -

   Nominations and self-nominations are both permitted and should be sent
   to the Policy Committee List;
   -

   After the nominations, a candidate's confirmation of acceptance and
   expression of interest should be sent to the Policy Committee mailing list
   by 31st October;



TIMELINE



1- Nomination period: from 26th October to 2nd November

   -

   The nominee should accept the nomination and send a short SOI by the
   31st of October.



2- Election: from 3rd to 8th November

Vote is mandatory to all Policy Committee members. The GNSO support staff
will act as the election officer. The options in the ballot should be the
candidates who confirmed by the deadline and NOTA.



3- Results: should be available by 9th November

The candidate with 2/3 of the NCSG?PC membership votes will be declared
winner.





VICE-CHAIRS APPOINTMENTS



Once the Policy Committee Chair is confirmed, a second call for interest
will be issued at this list and the PC members can elect up to 2
Vice-chairs. The appointment of the volunteers will be confirmed if there
is no objection within PC.

Dear all,

Thanks Bruna for the announcement and kick-starting this process.

I am hereby submitting a self nomination and my expression of interest is
below:

As an NCSG member keen to see the group's policy work in ICANN not only
continue to grow but also improve, I think the job of a policy chair is an
important one. Especially during this season where we report very low
participation from members in policy work and when the group itself is
considering how it should evolve.

I would like to work with the PC members and the NCSG chairs, together with
the membership in general to improve members' policy participation and
therefore our quality of policy output.

I do have experience chairing a group of stakeholders with diverse views,
as co-chair of the IANA Naming Function Review Team, including owning the
managment responsibility of ensuring the group delivers its mandate on
time, on budget and with quality. Skills I believe will be handy and
necessary to make this job a little bit easier, if nothing else.

I look forward to working with you all if elected.

I think it is wonderful that you are stepping forward Tomslin, thanks!  If you need a seconder i would warmly support your nomination!
The chair should not have to do everything!  Lets all try to give more support and take on tasks.
