[NCSG-EC] [Ext] ICANN 75 Meetings

Hello all!

All of the NCUC requests will not be able to be accommodated. I have one slot “saved” for NCUC, which we will use for the HRIA since it appears everyone agrees on that decision. This saved slot is currently on Thursday, 16:30-17:30.

The conflicts that I listed before are just the current conflicts with open, available slots. I was just listing them so everyone was aware of the open slot conflicts, and in case there was not agreement to merge the HRIA session.

These are the current meetings I have:

NPOC Membership 60 min
NCUC Membership 60 min
NCSG Membership 90 min
NCSG Policy 60 min (we can switch the membership and policy if necessary)
CCWP-HR 60 min

Kind Regards,
Andrea

Thanks, Andrea and all for the replies!

So, my take is that we need to be a bit more careful when requesting sessions to leadership, Ephraim. I was not aware that you had also requested one to NCUC - or NCUC requested one itself - and in order to avoid replicating the requests in an already disputed meeting I opened this thread. We are not yet back to meetings as they were before and there's still an impending limitation of space and resources available.

Therefore, I would like to add if all NCUC requests were accommodated as I also believe some of them should be addressed at the NCSG level instead of the NCUC one. We have always agreed around policy topics being defined at the SG level and I happen to think it's confusing to conduct policy sessions dedicated to anything beyond capacity building - but I might be a minority here.

If @Benjamin Akinmoyeje<mailto:benakin at gmail.com> agrees I think the best thing would be to have the HRIA session as a CCWP-HR sponsored one as it helps frame it as a little more open and would even attract additional interest from other parts of the community. But apparently we would only have availability for doing this one while in conflict with Council so Im a bit confused on how to proceed. @Andrea Glandon<mailto:andrea.glandon at icann.org> cant we find an early morning session slot in order to avoid this clash with council ? Considering the HRIA also addressed the ODA it would be relevant for us to speak about in that space as well.

Best,
B

Dear Bruna, Andrea and Benjamin,

I am okay with merging the proposed session on Human Rights to be one- but can it be worded as follows:- "Implementation of the ICANN By Law on Human Rights- case study- SSAD and ODA Recommendations" and place it as sponspored by both NCSG and NCUC?

Best Regards,

Ephraim Percy Kenyanito

Dear Bruna,
Thank you for your email.
In response to the request for sessions. I put out a documents for members atleast ECs and some NCUC leaders to add items, here is what we have

1.ICANN Public Comment: Initial Report on Transfer Policy Review - Phase 1(a)

2.Non Commercial perspective on Closed Generics

3.Non Commercial New gTLDs Applicant Support (building on the work of the SubPro Working Group and new initiatives to move forward by GNSO Council. Questions include: who are the “outside experts'' that ICANN should engage to help frame and write the Applicant Support process? We are a unique voice in this process because our members include organizations from the Global South, indigenous communities (in Global South and Global North), minority communities, and IDN experts. We should be able to provide special input on this very important matter and a path to solving this long standing problem in ICANN.)

4.Human Right Impact Assessment for SSAD and ODA

5.ICANN.org [5.icann.org]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http:/5.ICANN.org__;!!PtGJab4!_NVOTQ1gWh6pg7RtxNdAI2X0WNJRtSlqMvWtyjxtQJDOZlJSn3iIDLFbOSYHX1hucRnn5oeK51EBGGXk_OuslTwG-j3f6A$> Policy & NCUC PDP improved engagement opportunity

These are sessions we would like to have if it is possible.

Kind regards,

Benjamin

Hello Bruna!

I can help with these questions. NPOC has asked for a 60 min membership session. NCUC has also asked for a 60 min membership session. In addition, NCUC has asked for another session, with topic still to be determined. One of the topics submitted is the Human Rights assessment of SSAD and ODA. This slot has been reserved, as he asked for it a few days ago. I would like to ask if this slot can be merged with the NCSG request since it seems to be a similar topic? At this point we are out of slots that do not conflict with GNSO sessions. Today is the very last day to get sessions submitted. The 90 min slots are very limited and I was only able to get 1 for NCSG, with the other slot being 60 min.

There is a slot Monday (60 min), last slot of the day, against the GNSO/GAC joint meeting.
First slot Tuesday morning against the GNSO Council/Board (60 min).
2 slots during the GNSO Council meeting on Wednesday.
Last slot of the day on Wednesday against the GNSO/ALAC joint meeting.
A slot on the last day against the GNSO Council Wrap up

Thanks!
Kind Regards,
Andrea

Heya everyone,

Hope this email finds you well!

So, I am still having some conversations with Andrea about the meetings we are requesting for ICANN75 and, so far, we have requested two 90 min sessions: one for Policy Committee and another for NCSG Membership Meeting.

Given @Ephraim Percy Kenyanito<mailto:ephraim at article19.org> request for us to try to accommodate a HRIA session, I have asked Andrea to check the availability of rooms and apparently we can either book a sign-up room with no services or take a slot that is open knowing there will be conflicts (in this case with two GNSO meetings).

Therefore, in order for us to be able to better coordinate amongst ourselves on this meetings and rooms availability, i'd like to ask @Raoul Plommer<mailto:plommer at gmail.com> and @Benjamin Akinmoyeje<mailto:benakin at gmail.com> to please share with us the list of meetings you requested. I think it's best for us to be in touch with one another this time to improve coordination (:

Last but not least, I'd ask @Tomslin Samme-Nlar<mailto:mesumbeslin at gmail.com> and @Ephraim Percy Kenyanito<mailto:ephraim at article19.org> about the HRIA session, should we follow up with taking one that's conflicting with a Council meeting?

best,
Bruna
