I come from an academic background and I am involved in Internet governance research since 2007 when I initiated my PhD on the topic and participated in the IGF in Rio de Janeiro. Since then I have participated in several congresses and events on Internet governance (mainly in South America and Europe) and I have published on the topic as well. I have developed and offered online courses on Internet governance for students in Brazil (in Portuguese language) years before local and regional organizations like CGI or SSIG did the same. I am following the work of ICANN and the New gTLD Program for several years already from the perspective of an academic and have published about it in Portuguese and English language. I am also a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet). Besides my academic activities I am currently also working for a company that is related to an ICANN accredited registrar (Domain Robot). However, this consultancy-like function is ending this year and I will continue with my academic work at the University of S?o Paulo. My current research project is focusing on the IANA Stewardship Transition Process. I am very much interested in joining ICANN as an academic to participated in and observe its policy development processes.
