[Ncsg-discuss] Reminder: ICANN86 Homework - Contribute to the Additional Reference LGRs Public Comment

Participation in ICANN Policy.

As agreed during the session, we would like to turn the discussion into
practice. Our takeaway homework is to contribute short inputs to the
ongoing ICANN Public Comment proceeding on:

This proceeding is open until *23 June 2026 at 23:59 UTC*. ICANN is seeking
feedback on new and updated Reference Label Generation Rules for the second
level, covering multiple scripts and languages. This is especially relevant
to our community because it connects technical DNS work with multilingual
access, Internationalized Domain Names, linguistic inclusion, user trust,
security, transparency, and meaningful consultation with affected
language/script communities.

You do not need to write a full public comment. A short contribution is
enough. Please send your input by answering these four questions:

   1. *What is this public comment about?*
   Explain it in two or three simple sentences.
   2. *Why does it matter for non-commercial users, civil society, or
   affected communities?*
   You may think about IDNs, local languages, linguistic inclusion, digital
   identity, user trust, security, transparency, and access.
   3. *What question or concern should NCSG raise?*
   For example: Were affected language and script communities meaningfully
   consulted? Are the materials understandable for non-technical communities?
   Are variant and cross-script risks clearly explained?
   4. *What recommendation should we make?*
   One clear sentence is enough.

You may use this simple template:

This public comment is about new and updated Reference Label Generation
Rules for second-level domain names, covering several scripts and languages.

>From a non-commercial perspective, this matters because IDNs and script
support are connected to linguistic inclusion, digital identity, user
trust, and access to the Internet in local languages and scripts.

Meaningful participation does not start with being an expert. It starts
with reading carefully, asking useful public-interest questions, and
contributing one point that can strengthen the community position.
