Dear NCSG members,


We’ll be holding a meeting in a few hours to finalize our comment on the
ICANN RDRS Standing Committee Final Report. I warmly invite all members who
are interested to attend.


During the meeting, we’ll:


   -

   Briefly revisit the values that underpin NCSG’s work, especially our
   commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of
   registrants’ rights.
   -

   Discuss the importance of keeping the Registration Data Request Service
   (RDRS) accountable to its original purpose. (Triage of requests
   transparently)
   -

   Go through the draft comment and work together to refine and finalize it.


What is the RDRS and why does it matter?

The RDRS is ICANN’s system for handling third-party requests for nonpublic
WHOIS data. While it’s technically voluntary for registrars, the service is
increasingly relevant to law enforcement access, intellectual property
enforcement, and civil society transparency concerns. Our engagement is
crucial to ensure that disclosure mechanisms or triage systems  do not
become a backdoor to mandatory data disclosure without adequate human
rights safeguards.
