Next Steps for NCSG Contribution to 4th Round Draft AGB (2 April Deadline)

Hi all,

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable ICANN82 - we’ve certainly tackled a lot this past week. While all good things must come to an end, luckily for us the AGB contribution process is still going!

Although it’s a quick turnaround post-ICANN, it’s important for us to keep the momentum going. The call for contributions on the fourth round proceeding<https://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/proceeding/fourth-proceeding-for-proposed-language-for-draft-sections-of-next-round-agb-14-02-2025> for draft sections of the next round applicant guidebook (AGB) is due 2 April and it’s a lengthy one so let’s make sure we divide and conquer.

Below, I have outlined a suggested timeline for completion. 😊We’ll host a coordination call (sign-up here<Please%20select%20all%20the%20times%20you%20are%20available%20here:%20https:/doodle.com/group-poll/participate/aOLOMPEb>) and the draft doc can be accessed here<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TlLFixlDM_JrAsEx5sfAnxGc9XDIo43CpudzXCYhJCY/edit?tab=t.0>. Any questions, please let me and/or Pedro know!

It would be great to have a mix of familiar faces who bring institutional and topic area expertise, and new ones! As others noted during ICANN82, this is a great first topic on which to begin engaging in the ICANN policy development process.

  1.  Review/Analysis Period

  *   For those who plan to contribute, please sign-up here<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TlLFixlDM_JrAsEx5sfAnxGc9XDIo43CpudzXCYhJCY/edit?tab=t.0> by 20 February (one week from today) for the section(s) you would like to have ownership for leading the drafting. We will all of course review and input on other sections, but this is to make sure at least one person is accountable.
  *   As you will see in the doc, for the lengthier/thornier sections, I have suggested at least 2x people to input.
  *   I have also added a section<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TlLFixlDM_JrAsEx5sfAnxGc9XDIo43CpudzXCYhJCY/edit?tab=t.0#bookmark=id.kkbn3dghpnrt> on “NCSG priority issue areas.” As you come across anything of note or particularly controversial that you think the NCSG should highlight in the contribution, please drop it there! This will be very helpful for finalizing the contribution.

  1.  Coordination Call

  *   To facilitate this process, I am suggesting a coordination call for everyone who is interested in contributing. This is to give us some recovery time post-ICANN82 but to keep the process moving. I’ve tried to suggest a timeslot that hopefully isn’t too early for South America & US colleagues or too late for our colleagues in Asia.
