[ICANN Meeting] ICANN82 Seattle Day 4

Hi everyone,

We had officially the start of the ICANN meeting with several sessions.
Beginning with the opening ceremony where we heard from the new ICANN CEO
and ICANN board chair with highlights about the defense of the
multistakeholder model. Then we had a session titled "how we meet" to share
about ICANN meeting structure and some ideas for change with most of the
focus on cost reduction. We can expect a public comment on the topic soon.
There was also a session with ICANN executives and giving a chance to the
community to ask them. I attended the session of the IANA Function Review
team as NCSG representative (so I couldn't attend the GNSO council - Board
meeting) and we discussed the draft report and timeline for reviewing
public comments. The report will be published next week.

For tomorrow, we will have several NCSG meetings:
- with the board, we will respond to their questions regarding meeting
structure, how ICANN can work more closely with governments, and challenges
to participate in ICANN budget and operating plan. We will also try to
respond to late submission questions from the board about reviews.
- we will have our policy committee session to go through the GNSO council
meeting agenda as we do at our regular policy call.
- we will have our issue forum to cover the topic of applicant support
program and go into aspects of non-financial support etc.
- we will finish the day with the NCSG membership session where we will get
several updates about the discussion in this ICANN meeting and have
discussion with Russ Weinstein, the new VP for Policy development in ICANN.
