What were the Multistakeholder community achievements

It’s an interesting question, Farzaneh. Reminds me of the quote often (falsely) attributed to Churchill about democracy being the worst form of government except for everything else that has ever been tried (or something to that affect).

 

It’s everything you mention, and what comes immediately to my mind is the fact that the Internet still works after almost 10 years since the IANA transition. ICANN must be doing something right for that to be the case, especially since without it there was always a risk of substantial fragmentation. The MS model engenders trust, both in processes and technology, which is essential for any substantial economic investment that has led to innovations like IoT, the mobile revolution and now AI.

 

Perhaps I’m being too abstract.

Hi everyone 

 

During the call with the CEO and the policy development staff I mentioned that we should discuss how the ms process at ICANN has contributed to Internet governance globally which is pivotal for WSIS+20 conversations 

 

Some examples: 

 

The community came up with an accountability package and recommendations that included the issue of sanctions and human rights 

 

Ensuring global access to domain names and security of the DNS 

 

Allowing for civil society direct participation in policymaking 

 

Showing resiliency in times of war and conflict and pandemic 

 

 

Any other concrete example comes to your mind?
