Dear All,
I'm deeply humbled and grateful for the support and nomination from my
colleagues on the PC and the NPOC EC to represent NCSG on the GNSO Council.
A huge thanks to Wisdom, Tomslin, Juan, and everyone who supported my
nomination. I'm truly honored by your confidence in me.

As I've recently begun my role as Policy Chair for NPOC, there's still much
work I'm eager to tackle. We've made significant strides in our first term,
giving voice to our concerns through public comments, working groups, and
ongoing EPDPs, all thanks to your unwavering support.

However, after much consideration, I must respectfully decline the
nomination at this time to join the GNSO council. I would be thrilled to
see Farzi alongside Julf and Bruna return to the council, continuing to
pave the way for our collective growth and learning in leadership.

As the African proverb goes, "What an elder sees sitting down, a young man
can't see even standing on an iroko tree." The infusion of new talent into
leadership within our constituencies is critical for innovation and
adaptability. Yet, it's just as crucial that these individuals fully grasp
our operational dynamics and the complexities of policy development and
stakeholder engagement.

The leadership roles require more than administrative acumen; they demand a
deep understanding of ICANN complex policies, processes, and diplomatic
finesse. Initiatives like the Policy Development Accelerator and the Policy
Transition Program are invaluable, equipping both new and old members with
the foundational knowledge necessary for effective leadership.I encourage
everyone, whether new or seeking further leadership opportunities, to
engage with these programs. I urge all of us to embrace this mentorship as
we navigate our paths in governance.

For now, I'm committed to continuing my work as Policy Chair for NPOC,
where I've been nominated for a second term. I deeply appreciate your
nominations and kindly ask for your continued support to serve in this
capacity.

Thank you all once again.

Kind regards,

Emmanuel Vitus
