Dear NCSG members,

We received 11 Motivation Letters for the two ICANN81 travel slots.
With so many good candidates, the EC had intense discussions about the
candidates, and tried to come up with clear and objective selection
criteria. We took into account experience, NCSG policy contributions,
participation in NCSG policy calls and previous ICANN meetings, as well
as geographical, cultural and gender balance issues. On the last point
we had to concede failure, a fact that troubled several of us, but in
the end the range of other criteria won over gender balance.

In the end, we arrived at the consensus decision to approve the
travel slots for Bolutife Adisa and Frank Anati. We want to emphasize
that it was a hard decision to make, as there were many good applicants.

We strongly encourage the other applicants to reapply if travel slots
become available for ICANN82 - and it is of course still possible that
one or more of the Councillors or EC members who plan to travel have
to change their plans and one more slots become available.

On behalf of the NCSG EC,

	Julf
