Dear Farzaneh, Manju, Kathy and all,
Thank you so much for the input. Last friday I sent my suggested talking
points for the meeting with Goran and they are the ones im pasting below.
Also, fyi, my meeting with him will take place next wednesday at 20h45 UTC:
*NCSG Leadership 1:1 with ICANN CEO - June 1st, 2022*
*Lack of noncommercial advocates participation in discussions about
registrant rights *
1.
*The noncommercials, who have been advocating for noncommercial
registrants rights for many years now are most of the time non-existent in
ICANN's training programs about registrants rights and responsibility. Some
of our members have raised this some years ago but, in their perception, we
have not been able to fix it yet. *
*Regardless of that, being able to convey different perspectives, including
ours is especially important because of the issues of sanctions and whois
privacy as well as domain transfer need to have noncommercial registrants
advocates to speak to them. How do you think Noncommercials could be
integrated into these training programs as speakers or at least our
viewpoints be reflected? *
*Unbalanced participation at WGs and PDPs*
*2. NCSG is currently concerned by unbalanced participation from Advisory
Committees in WGs, PDPs and other GNSO related discussions - i.e. GNSO
having to listen to the GAC on Closed Generics. Although this community has
always advocated for diverse participation and also for conveying different
perspectives into GNSO policy making processes, we believe that currently
we are facing a serious issue of Advisory Committees influencing directly
on our internal processes and no longer resuming their participation to the
moments where they are required, by the icann bylaws, to provide advice.
Therefore, we would like to know whether the Org sees this moment of
increased participation from GAC and ALAC into GNSO PDPs as an
extrapolation of whats dictated at the Bylaws and if you believe that there
are benefits to it? *
Best,
Bruna
