The NCSG December 9th Requests to ICANN

This is exactly why I hope NCSG does more than a single letter to the 
Board. In response to James, I fail to see how the opportunity for good 
controls to protect the public in registry agreements or otherwise has 
been "undermined." Such controls are not going to happen at all without 
sustained pressure on the ICANN Board from inside and outside the 
regular ICANN community. And right now, nearly all of the pressure is 
coming from outside. So again, I implore you: if you believe the sale of 
.ORG to Ethos Capital is problematic, and that it presents an 
opportunity for changes that will protect noncommercial registrants, 
then this group should continue to ask the Board for an open, public 
process to shape those controls, and to do it before the Board weighs in 
on the sale.
