I'm Jianne from Hong Kong, currently based in Japan. I've been involved in the internet governance space for about 7 years now, beginning when I was just in high school. I was also a former MAG member for the IGF. Currently, I'm part of a group called Youth4IG, a grassroots initiative made up of young people from Asia Pacific and founded by another NCUC member, Mili. I've been to two ICANN meetings and have helped facilitate a mock ICANN meeting with local students (for ICANN57, I was also part of the Social Media WG then) in the past. My background is mostly on youth initiatives, local outreach/engagement, and capacity building so I admit that policy work is something I'm new at and still learning.

I’m Yawri from Costa Rica. I had the opportunity to attend ICANN62 Policy Forum last year as a NextGen and it changed my life. I’m currently anundergraduate Law student at University of Costa Rica and interested on ICANN’s work, so that I like to share it through presentations for my classmates and similar stuff. 
I enjoy the intersection between Law and Technology and I’m very looking forward to learn more about it and to develop it through out the Central American region. I’m also interested on having a buddy in order to understand better how can I help or join NCUC work and initiatives.

I am happy as the NCSG chair, to support new and existing members in order to assist them in becoming fully involved, in order to participate in our policy discussions and contribute to the work we do.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or would like advice on where to start.   We have many experienced members and officers who are happy to help.  I have put some in cc for your easy reference.

There are many opportunities to learn about policy development, but a good place to start is our monthly policy call, which usually takes place during the week of the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council call.  This month, the Council call will take place on October 24 at 12:00 UTC, and the full details and schedule of Council activities can be found here :  https://gnso.icann.org/en/group-activities/calendar.  Watch for announcements of policy and working group webinars on this list, they are targeted to help bring us all up to date with what is happening in difference groups and topic areas.  Please note the quarterly GNSO Working Group newcomers Webinar, for which the schedule will be shared in due time.Because we are coming up to the Annual meeting to be held in Montreal from November 2-7 (https://meetings.icann.org/en/montreal66), there will be special webinars on topics to be discussed at the Annual Meeting.  We will send them to this list as we get them, they are a great way to learn about the issues.

Rafik Dammak is the chair of the NCSG Policy committee, and he shares updates on calls for public comment regularly on this list.  To follow the public comments calls, go here
