Dear Members,

I have a longer, more detailed update on a whole slew of things happening at ICANN, but this note is just to inform you about our upcoming elections. ICANN has now set a policy that we need to book our supported travellers 4 months prior to meetings. This means, of course, that we need to know who our supported travellers are, which means for the annual meeting in October (this year, ICANN66) we will need to back up our elections significantly, so that we can provide names to ICANN travel in July. Given this requirement, the NCUC, NPOC and NCSG chairs with the support of the three executive committees decided it made sense to have all our elections at the same time. Hopefully this will make less work for Maryam, less confusion for members, and a clean and simple check-in process.

Accordingly, the new election schedule is coming up soon, and will proceed as follows:

May 13 - June 07: check in period
23 May - 06 June: Nomination period
07 June: deadline for nomination acceptance and candidate statement. Check in ends.
09 June: Voter roll finalized
08/09 June: meet the candidates calls
10 June - 23 June: Voting
24 June: Results

We also have a requirement in the NCSG Charter to review membership in connection with the annual pre-election checkin, (Articles 2.2.8-2.2.10) so I am proposing to the NCSG-EC that we update this over the next few weeks in conjunction with this early check-in this year. While it may seem odd to have our newly elected officers on deck 4 months before they are seated, the previous timing did tend to coincide with summer holidays in the northern regions, and suffer from participation issues. It will also be very good to have four months to onboard new councilors and Chairs.

Maryam will be sending out various emails related to the elections shortly, but please do not hesitate to send me any questions you may have.

Kind regards,

Stephanie Perrin

NCSG Chair
