So essentially throw out all the work we did on transition and community mechanisms short of empowered community actions?
What exactly does the ATRT think its doing??

Thanks Michael for those highlights. I concur that we have to not miss the opportunity to weigh in in this report.

Hi Rafik,

Thanks very much for flagging this, as I think it's a very important
area for NCSG engagement. ATRT3 is discussing a fairly dramatic
overhaul to how community review, and ICANN's own accountability
mechanisms are set up. There are options on the table which might
substantially undercut the volume and scope of community review. In
particular, there is a suggestion to reduce all the specific reviews
(AT, SSR, CCT, & RDS) down to a single review that would only take
place once every 7 years. All organizational reviews, for SOs and ACs,
would be reduced down to a 3-5 day workshop to take place once every
three years. You can find these proposals at pages 90-92.

This is an enormous change. I hope the NCSG takes a careful look at
these proposals, and considers carefully their potential impact on
accountability at ICANN in drafting our response.

Best,

Michael Karanicolas
