Erik Brooks, the CEO of Ethos Capital, made this comment on the call today when asked if they requested secrecy as part of the negotiations:
No, our proposal to the Internet Society was a proposal that we made directly and for the purpose of trying to buy the business, but there was no explicit requirement that that remain private. The reality of the situation is that ISOC retained a financial advisor that was normal and standard for these kind of situations, that resulted in multiple other bids coming in, so no. There were no specific requirements that we put on ISOC at all as to how they conducted the process.
This seems at odds with earlier and repeated public statements made by ISOC's CEO that the bidder would not have participated in an open bidding process, auction, or community consultation.
